Recount text IS a text that telling the reader about one story, action or activity. Its goal is to entertaining or informing the reader.

 

Generic structure of recount text :

• Orientation tells who was involved, what happened, where the events took place, and when it happened. ("Orientation" menceritakan siapa saja yang terlibat dalam cerita, apa yang terjadi, di mana tempat peristiwa terjadi, dan kapan terjadi peristiwanya)

• Events tell what happened and in what sequence. ("Event" menceritakan apa yang terjadi (lagi) dan menceritakan urutan ceritanya)

• Reorientation consists of optional-closure of events/ending. ("Reorientation" berisi penutup cerita / akhir cerita)

CONTOH RECOUNT :

Sep, 27th 2012 was an unforgettable day. It was my first experience for traveling by train alone.

At that day, I went to solo by Prameks. The train leaved Kutoarjo to solo at 6.00 pm. It was the last train departure, so the train was very silent. I enjoyed the silence.

Suddenly the train stopped in Kalasan, I was surprised when all the lights were off. It was 19.15 pm. I looked out the window and scared because of the darkness. I phoned my father, but he didn't answer it. My fear grew worse.

Fortunately, the man who sat beside me, asked me to talking. My fear decreased slowly. We talked for a long time but the train had not moved yet.

At 10.35, the train began to move again. I was very relieved. I arrived at the station at 11.30 pm and the man drop me to my boarding house.
